The seventh edition of the Rome Film Festival will be taking place from 9-17 November 2012 at Rome’s Auditorium Parco della Musica, the architectural complex designed by Renzo Piano. Once again this year, the Rome Film Festival organized by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma institution will create a unique atmosphere that will extend throughout the capital. There will be many events all over Rome hosted in historical places, cultural institutions and various film-related associations. The 1300 square metres of the boulevard leading to the Auditorium’s spectacular Cavea will be converted into one of the world’s longest Red Carpets for the Festival. Internationally acclaimed movie stars will be parading on the Carpet alongside the true stars of the event: its spectators.

The Fondazione Roma is offering its public a marvellous exhibit that evokes the splendours of one of the greatest rulers in the history of humankind. This exhibit, in Italy for the first time, will be hosted in the magnificent halls of the Fondazione Roma Museum in Palazzo Sciarra. Over 150 works created during the reign the greatest emperor to have ruled India in the past 2000 year will be on display. These works tell of the life and actions of Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar. In conjunction with this exhibit, the Fondazione  Roma has also organized “Bollywood Film Meeting Roma” which intends to offer visitors an opportunity to have a glance at the new tendencies becoming more popular in Mumbai’s film production (in Hindi language).

RomaFictionFest, the festival dedicated to great mini-series produced in both Italy and abroad under the direction of Steve della Casa is back once again this year from 30 September to 5 October. The FictionFest will offer many events, previews and master classes. Special guests include protagonists of series that met with the approval of the public and critics alike. The story of Cinears, the plastic art and sculpture lab, presents a great number of statues, chunks of scenery, plaster and resin casts to illustrate a world that gradually came into being. These pieces were used in films by Pasolini, Scorsese, Zeffirelli, Fellini – films which made cinematic history – as well as more recent projects such as reality shows. The pieces on display all occupied a large portion of Cinecittà film studios for many years. Photographer Alessandro Cidda makes his way through the sheds of the de Angelis family with the intimacy of a member of the family and the innocent eyes of a child that are easily captivated by a world filled with statues which could “come to life at any given moment”. His kind of vivid observations are capable of communicating the innumerable background stories that these statues – all of which are works of art by skilled craftsmen – have to tell.
