For the occasion of the celebration of Arte Povera, two major installations by Jannis Kounellis and Gilberto Zorio that dialogue with the Lymph sculptures by Giuseppe Penone. With its dialogue between artificial and natural elements, Lymph sculptures synthesises one of the strands of research underlying the Arte Povera movement. An in-depth comparison between the two Italian Renaissance masters will be presented for the first time at an exhibition featuring 66 drawings: those by Da Vinci come from the collection at Milan’s Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana and those by Michelangelo arrive from the Casa Buonarroti Foundation in Florence. This magnificent exhibit assembles works of art in the halls of Rome’s Palazzo Sciarra with the intention of telling about a European historical period filled with political and religious events. An extraordinary group of over 170 works has been selected that includes sculptures, paintings, drawings, engravings and medals from the most prestigious museums in Italy and abroad. A magnificent retrospective exhibit dedicated to American photographer and art critic. The show’s four sections trace the artistic career and experiences of Milton Gendel. He was born in New York in 1918 and has been working constantly in Rome since the end of World War II. On display are his first works alongside surrealists artists Max Ernst, André Breton and Isamu Nogushi as well as his experience during the war in China, his activity as photographer, his years with the Rome-New York Art Foundation (1958-1962) and his friendships with Italian and American artists.
