MILTON GENDEL: A SURREAL LIFE. Works and photographs between Rome, New York and Shanghai
A magnificent retrospective exhibit dedicated to American photographer and art critic. The show’s four sections trace the artistic career and experiences of Milton Gendel. He was born in New York in 1918 and has been working constantly in Rome since the end of World War II. On display are his first works alongside surrealists artists Max Ernst, André Breton and Isamu Nogushi as well as his experience during the war in China, his activity as photographer, his years with the Rome-New York Art Foundation (1958-1962) and his friendships with Italian and American artists.
