THE RENAISSANCE IN ROME. A Token to Michelangelo and Raffaello
This magnificent exhibit assembles works of art in the halls of Rome’s Palazzo Sciarra with the intention of telling about a European historical period filled with political and religious events. An extraordinary group of over 170 works has been selected that includes sculptures, paintings, drawings, engravings and medals from the most prestigious museums in Italy and abroad. Such masterpieces as Raffaello’s “Self-Portrait” and the “Portrait of Fedra Inghirami” will be on display. The exhibit’s absolute novelty is a 3-D virtual reconstruction of the Sistine Chapel and the marvellous fresco paintings of Cupid and Psyche in the Loggia of the Farnesina, the ancient villa built for Agostino Chigi at Porta Settimiana and frescoed by the Raffaello school, replicated for this exhibit thanks to ENEA technology.
